The present course is developed with an assumption that there are several important aspects of legal theories and philosophy in ancient india that may throw light on many of the confusions that exist in contemporary times, and those insights obtained could be helpful for adopting solutions to some of the pressing problems faced in the modern age. moreover, the present legal system can benefit from the lessons from ancient india for building and sustaining a prosperous nation.

- To develop an overall understanding of the past, so that these issues can be further studied in detail to improve the present legal system.

- To prepare the young generation of India to be free from the myths the West had propagated in the past.
- To obtain freedom from the misunderstandings created by the Mischief of Orientalism. To be able to be proud of our past, by appreciating what our Sages had passed on to the future citizens.
