Theme
As part of the conference, we will be publishing the sixth edition of the Niti-Samvaad journal, taking an interdisciplinary and intersectional lens to this year’s theme:
Empowering the Marginalized: Inclusive Policy-making for an Equitable India
Having completed over 76 years as a nation and witnessed unprecedented growth, India enters a new chapter in its history. From strengthening our position as a global power to establishing ourselves as a leader in technological innovation, India has made significant strides. The leading force behind this has been its diverse population. However, it remains to be questioned whether everyone has benefited equally from the ongoing progress.
Through this year’s theme, the conference aims to engage policy scholars to reexamine the protocols and practices around equality and justice in India and brainstorm policy solutions that can bridge gaps and ensure an equitable India for all.
Sub-themes
Reservation and Representation
Assessing the current reservation system, its successes, and its limitations. Going beyond affirmative action to ensure equitable access to quality education and employment for all, especially for the tribal communities and youth from marginalized backgrounds.
Economic Empowerment
Taking a look at the effectiveness and efficacy of existing poverty alleviation programs and proposing solutions for more inclusive, targeted measures to ensure employment and income growth across the population.
Accounting for Equal Access to Tech and Digital Governance
Examining the growing impact that technology has on governance processes. Ensuring that digital governance is accessible and accountable to all stakeholders.
Community-oriented policymaking
Mainstreaming the inclusion of communities in the process of policy-making about them. Highlighting advocacy and other tools that empower oppressed communities to ensure that their voices are heard in the decision-making process.
