Essential Qualification, Experience & Skill Set
- Educational Background: Bachelor of Legislative Law (LL.B.) is mandatory.
- Professional Experience:
- 8–15 years of relevant, post-qualification experience, ideally in the infrastructure domain.
- In-depth experience interpreting, analyzing, and managing tender and construction contracts.
- Strong understanding of the Railway project contract landscape is a significant advantage.
- Legal Skills:
- Expertise in Contract and Arbitration law, particularly commercial and arbitration disputes.
- Demonstrated ability in pre-arbitration dispute resolution, leading arbitration proceedings, and handling litigation in courts on arbitration and construction matters.
- Hands-on exposure to FIDIC, EPC, PPP, NHAI, and NITI Aayog documentation.
- Ability to assess and mitigate risks in complex EPC contractual documents.
- Knowledge of labor and employment law relevant to the construction sector, with practical application abilities.
- Stakeholder Management:
- Comfortable managing ongoing communication with internal stakeholders (engineering, project, HR, and finance teams) and external partners (government, external legal counsel).
- Experience with MOUs, JVs, NDAs, and subcontract documents is a plus.
- Personal Attributes:
- Strong planning and organizational skills to ensure on-time delivery in a fast-paced project environment.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills suited for multidisciplinary project teams.
- Mid-level supervisory/leadership capability; proven judgment in evaluating complex legal issues with a business-focused, solutions-oriented approach.
- Self-motivated with influencing ability, professionalism, and integrity.
- Digital Skills: Proficient with MS-Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Core Responsibilities
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating diverse contracts and documentation linked to major infrastructure and railway projects.
- Managing arbitration proceedings, alternative dispute resolution (ADR) processes, and representing the organization in related litigation.
- Ensuring strict compliance with procurement, FIDIC/EPC norms, PPP guidelines, and contract law.
- Advising internal teams on structuring deals, risk mitigation, and optimizing the organization’s legal position.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams—including project managers, engineers, HR, and external legal experts.
- Implementing and maintaining robust legal processes and compliance frameworks.
