JAG Department Mandate

The Judge Advocate General Branch provides independent legal advice to Army Commanders on courts-martial, service laws, international humanitarian law, and contracts. JAG officers defend/prosecute General Courts-Martial, vet MoUs, and represent Army in civil courts/AFT. With elite status and PC conversion option, JAG remains most sought-after law entry.​

Essential Eligibility

Nationality

1. Indian Citizen.
2. Nepal Subject.
3. PIO (Pakistan/Myanmar/Sri Lanka/East Africa) with eligibility certificate.​

Age Limit (01 Jul 2026)

• 21–27 years.
• DOB: 02 Jul 1999 to 01 Jul 2005 (inclusive).​

Educational Qualification

• LL.B. (3-year/5-year integrated) with minimum 55% aggregate.
• Eligible for Bar Council registration.​
