About the Opportunity

HSBC is currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Assistant Legal Counsel.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Need to implement the Group Compliance Policy, as applicable to their role.
  • Need to be aware of the Operational Risk scenario associated with their role, and to ensure that all actions during their employment with HSBC take into account the likelihood of operational risk occurring.
  • All Mandatory Training Modules are taken up with the right earnestness and completed within the stipulated timelines.
  • Ensure all internal databases are updated accurately by Specialists/Sr. Specialists.
  • Be commercial and solutions focused with the ability to draft appropriate legal provisions reflecting the agreed outcome.
  • Seek clarification as and when required from onshore SME and share with the team.
  • Update procedure as advised by onshore SME and share with the team.

Eligibility

  • Law degree from a recognized and reputed Law College/University in India or Overseas.
  • Minimum 5 years experience working in a legal process involving advisory, drafting/vetting agreements/contracts
  • Proven skills in advisory and drafting agreements/contracts
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Excellent time management and prioritization and multi-tasking skills
  • Good interpretation, analytical & judgmental skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Ability to effectively develop a rapport across a wide range of people across all related functions
  • Required to be detail oriented and must have exceptional attention to detail skills.
  • Personal drive to provide excellent customer service and achieve customer delight.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and personal ownership.
  • Must be good as a team player as well as an individual contributor.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with the Legal team and 3rd Party Relationship Managers.
  • An understanding of how Group Legal functions.
  • Excellent understanding of Corporate Law.
  • Understanding of Common Law, especially with regard to the UK & HK.
