What you will lead

  • Market reform and regulation
    • Competitive market design, open access frameworks, regional power pools, cross‑border trading, and regulatory reform programs.
    • Tariff modelling and multi‑year tariff methodology; social tariffs/pricing; performance benchmarking and service standards.
  • Regulatory operations and governance
    • Public consultations, consumer protection frameworks, strategic planning and oversight, policy rulemaking; review of utility filings.
  • Commercial and finance
    • Regulatory/utility accounting, utility finance, power system economics; project finance, financial modelling for tariff/pricing and investment decisions.
  • Legal and transactional support
    • Power sector dispute resolution; review of by‑laws, regulations, rules; PPA/IPP and implementation agreement reviews; contract negotiation.
  • Technical systems and renewables
    • Power system planning and operations, grid code studies, technical components of tariff design, utility benchmarking/monitoring.
    • Renewable energy integration with emphasis on hydro‑dominant systems and variable RE balancing.
  • Delivery and growth
    • Lead multi‑disciplinary advisory teams; develop proposals and thought leadership; build client relationships across utilities, regulators, multilaterals, and investors.

Ideal profile

  • Education: B.E./B.Tech. (or equivalent) and MBA or equivalent from a reputed institution
  • Domain experience: ~15 years in the power sector, including stints with utilities and/or regulatory authorities in South Asia.
  • Specialist tracks (any one, with exposure to others):
    • Policy Regulatory Advisor: regulation theory/practice, competitive markets, tariff modelling, market reform, cross‑border trading; public consultations and consumer protection; renewable/hydro systems.
    • Economic Regulatory Advisor: utility accounting/finance, power economics, regulatory analysis/behavior, project finance, tariff/pricing (incl. social tariff).
    • Legal Regulatory Advisor: dispute resolution, by‑laws/regulation reviews, PPA/IPP documentation and negotiations.
    • Technical Regulatory Advisor: system planning/operations, benchmarking, grid codes, service standards, technical tariff components; renewable/hydro system.
  • Skills: Advanced modelling and quantitative analysis; policy drafting; stakeholder management and negotiation; compelling communication and leadership in high‑stakes environments.
