National Debate Competition “Green Debates”, on 8th June in association with the Save Soil Initiative of the Isha Foundation
About the Organization
The concept of ‘Symbiosis’ is nurtured by Dr S. B. Mujumdar, Chancellor, Symbiosis International (Deemed University) on the principles of Vedic thought ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ which means ‘World as One Family. Symbiosis Law School (SLS) Hyderabad was established in 2014 inheriting splendid novelty, dynamism and excellence in the education of Symbiosis International Deemed University, Pune.
About the Environmental Law Cell
Environmental Law Cell (ELC), one of the many cells/ centres of Symbiosis Law School, Hyderabad was established with the motto of incorporating a sense of responsibility towards the environment among students and creating awareness about each person’s individual responsibilities to contribute to the prevention of future degradation of the environment. Through the Cell, the members educate the students on campus and people off campus about the need for environmental conservation and Sustainable Development through various activities like plantation drives, awareness camps, national seminars, webinars, jumble sales, competitions, etc. The Cell also takes the initiative to celebrate environmentally important days through awareness.
About the Event
The National Debate Competition, titled “Green Debates”, is to be conducted on 8th June 2022 in furtherance of the World Environment Day. The event will be conducted in association with the Save Soil Initiative of the Isha Foundation.
World Environment Day is one of the largest international environmental events. The event, which has been conducted annually since 1974 and is led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), has grown to be the greatest worldwide platform for environmental outreach, with millions of people from all over the world participating to safeguard the planet.
There are three themes for the debate, which will be as follows:
1. “Soil pollution: The Issue Concerning All Aspects of Life.”
2. “Renewable energy is an ideal replacement for fossil fuels.”
3. “Noise pollution and Environmental Wellbeing: Striking a Balance.”
Green Debates would be conducted through Microsoft Teams or Google meet.
About the associated NGO:
Save Soil is a global movement launched by Sadhguru, to address the soil crisis by bringing together people from around the world to stand up for Soil Health, and supporting leaders of all nations to institute national policies and actions toward increasing the organic content in cultivable Soil. The Save Soil movement is being initiated by Sadhguru, a yogi, mystic and visionary.
Eligibility
The webinar is open to the students of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes from recognised institutions.

The registration for the Debate will be done through Google form. The last date and time for registration are 7th June 2022, 5 PM.

Fee Details
The competition is free and no registration fee is required to participate.
Perks:
The winner and the runner up shall receive cash prizes. The winner shall win INR 2000. The runners up shall win INR 1000.
