NLUJ 1ST Conclave On IP Law & Practice

We are pleased to inform you that the Centre for Intellectual Property Studies (CIPS) National Law University Jodhpur is going to organize the NLUJ 1st Conclave on IP Law & Practice (registration fee needed) onARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND PATENTS; TRANSACTIONAL IP; CAREER GUIDANCE ON PRACTICE OF IP on 30th January 2023, at the University physically.

The conclave will feature a training workshop on transactional IP, discourse on the contemporary patenting issues involving artificial intelligence (“AI”) as an inventor, and round off with a session where the speakers will address IP career-related questions from participants.

SCHEDULE OF SESSIONS: to be held on

Date: January 30, 2023 (Monday)

Session 1 – 11 am to 12:30 pm

Session 2 (Speaker will be streamed online at the venue) – 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm

Session 3 – 4:30 to 5:30

The last 30 minutes of Sessions 1 and 2 will be devoted to Q&A.

DETAILS OF SESSIONS

The first session will deal with transactional IP, throw light on the challenges faced by a lawyer in handling IP transactions (e.g. IP due diligence) and propose practical solutions in overcoming them. The speaker will demonstrate these solutions by drawing upon his extensive experience in corporate and contentious IP practice.

The second session on AI and patents will cover the legal issues arising from naming AI as an inventor in patent applications from the perspective of the applicant as well as the challenges faced in the examination of such patent applications. The discourse will feature an insight into the recent cases that have attracted plenty of controversy and debate in the legal fraternity.

The third session will provide an opportunity for the conclave participants to engage with the speakers and seek guidance on IP career-related questions.

ELIGIBILITY FOR PARTICIPATION

  1. The participation is open to a maximum of 100 Participants on a first come first served basis other than the NLUJ students.
  2. Students pursuing three- or five-year integrated law courses or any other science /technology-based courses may apply. The workshop is also open to academicians and industry professionals.
  3. All participants will be awarded an e-Certificate for attending all three sessions of the conclave.

TERMS OF PARTICIPATION

  1. Participants must take their conclave seats at least 15 minutes prior to the start of each session.
  2. All external participants must arrange for their own travel and accommodation. On successful completion of registration, the organizing team will share a list of travel and accommodation options which may be consulted only for information purposes.
  3. Lunch will be provided to external participants.

REGISTRATION DETAILS

  1. The expression of interest can be done through a Google form by 13th January 2023, by 11:59 pm by registering in this link or https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScK4XFsAgk5jqjMCC13uerdqZOsSjfJstjX60hfXPDKEY_38Q/viewform?usp=sf_link.
  2. The first 100 applicants will receive an email by 14th January 2023, for making the requisite payment for completion of the registration process.
  3. Each applicant shall be required to pay a registration amount of:
    • Rs. 250 for students and researchers, and
    • Rs. 500 for academicians, industry professionals, and practitioners after they are notified about the selection for the workshop.

The registration amount must be paid by 15th January 2023, by 11:59 pm.

Each entry shall pay the registration fee through the following link: http://www.nlujodhpur.ac.in/fee.php by choosing the “Payment Other than semester Fee” Option and specifying the purpose of payment as “NLUJ IPLP CONCLAVE”.

Once the payment is made, the payment receipt should be mailed at:

cips@nlujodhpur.ac.in by 16th January 2023, by 11:59 PM for confirmation and completion of the registration process. The email’s subject shall be “Registration Receipt for NLUJ IPLP CONCLAVE”. The email shall also specifically include the Name of the participant, year and course (if applicable), Name of the University/Organization/ Affiliation, and Contact details (Phone Number and Email Id).
