Workshop on Protective Labour Legislations and Schemes for Organised and Unorganised Workers in India

The Centre for Social Justice of the Institute of Law, Nirma University, Ahmedabad is organizing an Online Workshop on “Protective Labour Legislations and Schemes for Organised and Unorganised Workers in India and the Way Forward” on May 1, 2024 to commemorate the International Labour Day, to recognize and honour the contributions of labourers worldwide, particularly in the Indian economy.

About Nirma University

About the Online Workshop

The workshop is organized to commemorate International Labour Day on May 1, to recognize and honour the contributions of labourers worldwide, particularly in the Indian economy. It is designed by the experts keeping in mind the importance and applications of labour laws for both organized and unorganized sector workers. The workshop is expected to be useful for the participants who have a legal background and non-law background and the people who are directly or indirectly involved in the engagement of labour, of any sector. The workshop is structured is designed to equip the participants with the various protective labour legislations and schemes and programmes framed for organized and unorganized sector workers.

Outline of the Workshop

The workshop is designed for four hours; it is a part-time, online programme. The programme contents include very significant aspects of protective labour legislations for the organized workers along with relevant schemes and policies for the unorganized workers and the compliances to be done therein.

The tentative sub-themes to be covered in the workshop are as follows:

  • Employees’ Compensation Act, 1923: Computation of Compensation
  • Employees’ State Insurance Act, 1948: Benefits, and Standard Benefit Rate
  • Employees’ Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952: Schemes and Computation
  • Policies and Programmes of the Central Government for the Social Security and Protection of the Unorganised Workers.

Award of Certificate

After completion of the workshop, participants will be awarded the Certificate of Completion.

100% Attendance is compulsory in the workshop for the Certificate.
