About the Competition

The competition is an opportunity for legal minds to engage with the intricate dimensions of international trade law. This competition aims to encourage critical thinking, innovative analysis, and scholarly exploration of the challenges and prospects within the field of international trade law.

Payment

  • Single authorship: Rs. 500/-
  • Co-authorship: Rs 600/-

Topic

  • International trade law including allied fields such as international investment law, international business law, global competition law etc.
  • The Competition will prefer essay entries about the Global South and India from an intersectional lens.

Who is it for?

  • 5-year integrated LL.B. (Hons.) course / 3-year LL.B. course from any recognized university in India and equivalent law degree abroad for the academic year of 2023-2024
  • LL.M from any recognized university in India and equivalent law degree abroad for the academic year of 2023-2024

Submission Guidelines

  • Word Limit: 2000-4000 words (excluding footnotes).
  • Individual Attachments: Name; contact details; current academic status (year of study, name of university etc.); undertaking as to guarantee of originality.
  • Co-authorship of entries (maximum two) . among individuals from the same or different institutions is allowed.
  • Multiple entries for the same authors are not allowed.
  • Entries should be original, unpublished and non-plagiarised.
  • The copyright of the entry to the Journal will rest with the editorial board once the entry has been selected. Entries cannot be retracted after selection.

Formatting Guidelines

  • Font and size for content: Times New Roman, Size: 12
  • Font and size for footnotes: Times New Roman, Size: 10
    Paper Size: A4
    Line spacing: 1.5
    Margin: 1″ from all sides Alignment: Justified
  • Citation Style: Footnotes must be properly cited strictly in accordance with the latest OSCOLA (4th edition) format. No endnotes or speaking footnotes (descriptive footnotes) are permitted.
    Any graphs, pictures or tables used by the author(s) must be mailed as a separate attachment in high quality.

Important Dates

  • Release of Call for Papers: 20th August, 2023
  • Last Date of Submission: 5th October, 2023
  • Declaration of Results: 31st October, 2023

Entries should be emailed to itlj@nliu.ac.in under the subject title “Entry for NLIU-ITLJ Essay Writing Competition [Name(s) of Author(s)]” in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.
