About the University
At the Faculty of Law, Vivekananda Global University, their focus is to develop and advance interdisciplinary legal education and scholarship. They challenge normative pedagogy and believe in establishing and implementing new approaches towards teaching and learning which lead the University to NAAC A+ accreditation in a short span of a decade since its inception.
As a leading research-oriented institute, they encourage unrestricted academic imagination in the belief that thinking outside the box leads to original, relevant, and impactful research. Thus, they incubate research on a range of diverse and unconventional ideas, including but not limited to, intellectual property, constitutional law, and criminal law.
They take pride that effective and impact-driven research has on numerous occasions received recognition. Since its inception in 2013, they have become one of India’s premier law universities. The students have gone on to excel in diverse fields, such as academia, legal practice, administrative services, and entrepreneurship.
About the Trust
The Trust was set up by Late Dr N.M. Ranka, Senior Advocate in the year 1980. The Trust has pioneered the concept of Moot Court Competitions in the State of Rajasthan and they take immense pleasure in announcing the 3rd VGU Ranka National Moot Court Competition, 2024.
Structure of the Competition
The competition will be held only in offline mode on the VGU campus. The structure of the competition is as follows: There will be two preliminary rounds. The top 8 qualifying teams will proceed to the quarter-finals and then the top 4 teams will proceed to the semi-finals, both the quarter-finals and semi-finals will be knock-out rounds. The final round will take place between the winners of the semi-final rounds.
Eligibility Criteria
All students who are enrolled in a full-time law degree (undergraduate or post-graduate) as of February 1, 2024, will be eligible to participate. Also, there is currently no cap on the number of teams that a particular institution can send to the competition.
Team Composition
Each team shall comprise three (3) members, i.e. two (2) speakers and one (1) researcher.
Prizes
The winners will receive a trophy to be held in their university and a cash prize of INR 21,000. The runners-up will also receive a trophy and a cash prize of INR 11,000. There will be an award and cash prize of INR 5,000 for the best speaker. There will be an award and cash prize of INR 5,000 for the best researcher. There will be an award and cash prize of INR 5,000 for the best memorial. All participants will receive certificates of participation.
How to Register?
Interested teams can register till February 15, 2024, through the link provided at the end of the post. However, if the organizers feel that the actual number of registered teams exceeds the expected participation in the competition, capping in the terms of one team per institution shall be put in place, and the deadline of February 15, 2024, might be preponed to ensure quality participation and fine fettle arrangements.
Registration Fee
- Registration fee with accommodation: Rs. 5000/- (Rupees five thousand only).
- Registration fee without accommodation: Rs. 3000/- (Rupees three thousand only).

Travel Expenses & Accommodation
Each participant will be responsible for his or her travel expenses. VGU Jaipur will provide accommodation to the participants on the days of the competition charges which are included in the registration fee.
Venue
The competition shall be held from February 24 – 26, 2024 at the Faculty of Law, Vivekananda Global University, Sector 36, NRI Colony Rd, VGU Campus, Jagatpura, Jaipur, Rajasthan 303012.
