Essential Qualification and Experience
- Qualification (any one):
- Degree in Law from a University in India recognized by the Bar Council of India or any State Bar Council for enrolment as an advocate; or
- Member of the English Bar; or
- Attorney of a High Court in the territory of India
- Computer knowledge: Knowledge of computer operation is required
- Experience (any one, minimum 3 years unless specified):
- Continuous practice as an Advocate in any High Court/Supreme Court of India for not less than 3 years; or
- Held a judicial post for not less than 3 years; or
- Research experience for not less than 3 years in the field of Law in a recognized university/Indian Law Institute/other law study institution; or
- Minimum 3 years’ service as a Law Reporter or on editorial staff of reputed law reports/journals; or
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as Lecturer in Law in a recognized university; or
- Minimum service of 7 years, of which at least 4 years in a Class-II Gazetted post in the Supreme Court/High Court or collectively in High Court and Supreme Court
Selection Process and Exam Pattern
- Shortlisting: Candidates who qualify the written test may be called for interview in a 1:3 ratio against vacancies
- Written Test: Two papers (as per the published pattern)
- Precis Writing and Editorial Skills – 100 marks; qualifying: 50 (General), 45 (reserved); duration 1 hour
- Law and Constitution – 100 marks; qualifying: 50 (General), 45 (reserved); duration 1 hour
- Interview: 25 marks; qualifying: 13 (General), 12 (reserved)
