Eligibility
Candidates must be graduates in any discipline with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law or any equivalent degree from a recognised institution or university. They must be retired government servants from any Ministry or Department or its attached or subordinate offices of Central, State or UT Governments, Autonomous Bodies, Statutory Bodies, or PSUs, having served in pay level 10 and above (as per 7th CPC), with a minimum of six years’ experience in handling court cases, legal drafting, and administrative coordination. The last date, i.e. 12 November 2026, will be considered as the cutoff date for computing the upper age limit and experience. Selection will be through interview. The application fee is Rs. 500 plus transaction charges for UR, OBC and EWS candidates, Rs. 250 plus transaction charges for SC and ST candidates, and PWD candidates are exempted, payable through SBI Collect.
How to Apply
Duly filled in applications in the prescribed format, along with proof of age, all educational qualification degree certificates, experience certificates issued by the competent or administrative authority, last pay certificate and pension payment order, caste certificate (if applicable), and the e-receipt for the application fee paid through SBI Collect, must be sent to Shri Hawa Singh, Chief Administrative Officer, Room No. 210, II floor, Administrative Block, JIPMER, Puducherry 605006, with the cover superscribed as “Application for the post of Consultant for Consultant (Legal) (on contract basis) at JIPMER, Puducherry”, so as to reach on or before 12 November 2026 by 4:30 PM.
Role and Importance
The Consultant (Legal) shall prepare draft counter replies for filing before the Central Administrative Tribunal, Labour Tribunal, High Courts, District Courts, and other courts and get them vetted from a legal perspective, provide legal advice as and when required, and liaise and coordinate with advocates on various legal cases, besides performing other duties assigned by the Director or authorised representatives. Remuneration shall be as per DoE OM No. 3-25/2020-E.III-A dated 09 December 2020, as a fixed monthly remuneration by deducting basic pension from the pay drawn at the time of retirement, and no HRA shall be paid.
