About IN-SPACe

IN-SPACe is a single-window, independent nodal agency under the Department of Space, Government of India, responsible for the promotion, enabling, authorization, and supervision of Non-Government Entities (NGEs) in the space sector. The organisation has invited these YP engagements to strengthen programme monitoring, scheme formulation, evaluation, project monitoring, and authorization activities in the Indian space ecosystem.

Key Eligibility by Post

Technical Directorate: Downstream

Applicants must have a Post Graduate Degree in Science/Engineering and at least 1 year of post-qualification experience, preferably in Geospatial/Space areas such as Geoinformatics, Earth Observation, Communication, Navigation, or allied technologies. A Ph.D. or PGDM/MBA is desirable.

Technical Directorate: Upstream

Candidates must hold an Engineering Degree (BE/B.Tech.) in Electronics, Mechanical, Electronics and Communication, Aerospace, or Computer Science. At least 1 year of post-qualification experience in the space sector or allied engineering/technology sector is required. An M.E./M.Tech., Ph.D., or PGDM/MBA is desirable.

Promotion Directorate: International Outreach

This role requires a Master’s Degree in Public Policy, International Relations, or an MBA with focus on International Business. Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience coordinating with foreign missions, international agencies, or multilateral organizations. Strong drafting, diplomatic correspondence, and cross-cultural communication skills are expected.

Promotion Directorate: Academia Outreach

Applicants must have an Engineering Degree (B.Tech/M.Tech.) in Aerospace, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering. A background in educational technology or curriculum design is a plus. PMA Directorate: Program Management

It requires 1 year of post-qualification experience in a space-related or allied engineering/technology field. The role focuses on facilitation, authorization, monitoring, and drafting of opportunity announcements.

Decadal Vision Implementation

For one opening, candidates need a graduation in Engineering/Science/Economics through a 3- or 4-year full-time course from a recognized institution. A B.E./B.Tech. is desirable, and 1 year of post-qualification experience is required.

For the other opening, candidates must have a 2-year post-graduation from a recognized university/institute with graduation in Engineering/Science/Economics. An MBA/PGDM is desirable, and 1 year of relevant post-qualification experience is needed.

The legal post requires an LLM degree from a recognized university. Candidates must have 1 year of post-qualification experience in a relevant role in a Ministry/Department of Government of India, including attached/subordinate/autonomous bodies. The role involves legal liaison, due diligence, disputes, and drafting.

Salary And Age Limit

IN-SPACe has fixed the age and remuneration structure as follows:

The age is to be calculated as on the date of receipt of the application. Depending on qualification, experience, and age, the candidate may be considered for either Grade 1 or Grade 2.

Work Profile

The work will vary by directorate, but the common focus is on high-value policy, technical, and regulatory support. Some of the tasks include:

General Terms And Conditions

Tenure

Young Professionals will initially be engaged for one year, extendable up to three years, one year at a time. No extension is available beyond three years. The engagement begins from the date of joining.

Working Hours And Leave

Working hours are normally 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM on working days. However, YPs may be required to work on weekends or holidays depending on official exigencies. Paid leave is allowed at 1.5 days per completed month, and leave cannot be accumulated beyond the calendar year.

Women YPs may be eligible for maternity leave up to 26 weeks, in line with the Maternity Benefit Amendment Act, 2017.

Remuneration And Increment

The remuneration is consolidated, and no additional allowance is admissible beyond the stated amount except applicable deductions such as Professional Tax/TDS. Payment is released after completion of the month based on performance certification by the reporting officer.

An annual increment of 10% may be granted subject to satisfactory performance after completion of one year. The document also shows graded enhancement linked to routine work, significant contribution, or exceptional performance.

Medical And Insurance Benefits

IN-SPACe will reimburse the premium of a Mediclaim policy for the duration of the contract. The policy covers the YP, spouse, and up to two dependent children, with a maximum hospitalization coverage of ₹5 lakh per family for the entire contract period.

Confidentiality

Selected YPs will be governed by the Official Secrets Act, 1923 and must not disclose any information, records, or documents obtained during their engagement. They are also required to sign a Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement.

Termination

The engagement is temporary and may be terminated by IN-SPACe at any time with 15 days’ notice or pay in lieu thereof. The same notice period applies if the YP chooses to disengage.

Selection Process

Applications will be screened on the basis of educational marks and relevant experience. The selection methodology is clearly weighted:

  • 50% weightage for educational qualification.
  • 20% weightage for relevant post-qualification experience.
  • 30% weightage for interview performance.
