The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Cuttack invites applications for the following contractual positions under the Legal Aid Defense Counsel System:

Available Positions

  • Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel – 01 Post
  • Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel – 03 Posts
  • Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel – 03 Posts

Eligibility Criteria

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in criminal law practice.
  • Proven record of handling at least 30 criminal trials in Sessions Courts (relaxable in deserving cases).
  • Strong command of criminal law and excellent communication (oral & written).
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to manage a legal team.
  • Familiarity with ethical obligations of a defense counsel.
  • Proficiency in computer applications is desirable.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in criminal law practice.
  • Must have handled at least 20 criminal trials in Sessions Courts (relaxable in exceptional cases by Hon’ble Executive Chairman, SLSA).
  • Excellent understanding of criminal law and legal ethics.
  • Proficiency in legal research and drafting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of IT systems and legal software.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in criminal law practice.
  • Sound knowledge of legal ethics and criminal law.
  • Strong research and drafting skills.
  • Good communication abilities (written and oral).
  • IT proficiency is essential.
