ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY

Tamil Nadu National Law University (TNNLU) was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu by an Act of the State Legislature (Act No. 9 of 2012) to provide quality legal education at the global level. The mission of TNNLU is to impart quality legal education nurtured within a robust culture of interdisciplinary research and teaching in an equitable, respectful and supportive environment producing legal practitioners and scholars who will be committed to justice, social transformation and national development. ABOUT PRO BONO CLUB

The TNNLU Pro Bono Club is a pivotal force dedicated to fortifying the Nyaya Bandhu (Pro Bono Legal Services) program —an esteemed initiative under the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India. Under this pioneering program, practising advocates, eager to undertake pro bono legal work, are seamlessly connected with eligible marginalized beneficiaries through mobile technology— after meticulous scrutiny—ensuring the delivery of essential legal services to those in need. To strengthen the Nyaya Bandhu network, the Department of Justice proposed the creation and integration of pro bono panels of lawyers in each High Court. These panels, curated and moderated by their respective High Courts, enhance the program’s impact. The vision is to seamlessly integrate Nyaya Bandhu into the institutional framework of India’s justice system, maximizing its reach and effectiveness.

ELIGIBILITY

All students pursuing undergraduate (three/five-year course) or post-graduate law degrees from any law school/university/college recognized by the Bar Council of India are eligible to participate in the Competition.

  • Release of Brochure: October 5, 2023
  • Last date for registration: October 15, 2023
  • Last date for submission: October 31, 2023
  • Announcement of Results: Second week of November

AWARDS AND PRIZES

  • Winner: Cash prize of INR 3,000/- 
  • 1st Runner-up: Cash prize of INR 2,000/- 
  • 2nd Runner-up: Cash prize of INR 1,000/- 
  • The top 10 essays will receive a Certificate of Merit. 
  • All participants will be provided with a Certificate of Participation.
