Central Electricity Regulatory Commission, a key regulator of the power sector in India, is a statutory body functioning with quasi-judicial status under sec – 76 of the Electricity Act 2003. 

About the Opportunity

Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) is hiring for the role of Senior Advisor (Law).

Roles and Responsibilities

• Assist the Commission in drafting orders and framing regulations;
• Render legal opinion/ substantial legal advice on issues before the Commission;
• Provide advice to the legal counsels engaged by the Commission in respect of matters before the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity, High Courts and the Supreme Court; and
• Assist in monitoring regulatory compliance by regulated entities of CERC.
• To perform such other work of legal nature as may be entrusted by the Commission to the Consultant from time to time

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in law from a reputed (Law) to institution/University, Commission
• At least 10 years working experience in judicial/quasi-judicial body/ regulatory!, dealing with legal matters (of which at least five years of experience should be in the Power sector)
• The candidate should have knowledge of the following:
  • The regulatory framework in the electricity sector of India.
  • Relevant legislations of India.
  • The policy regime includes the National Electricity Policy and Tariff Policy of India.
  • Knowledge of Electricity Markets

Salary

Individual consultants shall be engaged in the category of Senior Adviser” with a maximum consolidated professional fee of Rs. 2,25,000/- (excluding G.S.T, if applicable) per month commensurate with their
academic qualifications, total experience in the number of years, domain expertise and knowledge required for the deliverables.
