About NLIU

About CPS
The center has been established with the objective of promoting advanced learning in constitutional law, public policy research, and legislative drafting. CPS seeks to engage itself in academic discourse and research projects on contemporary public policy issues. The center also aims to become an instrumental organization in the holistic development of the Indian legal system by aiding the participants in acquainting themselves with important aspects of the profession.
About The Course
CPS is organizing an on-campus Three-Day Training Program in Legislative Drafting for Professionals, Government Officials, Advocates, Professors, Teachers, Academicians, Research Scholars, and Students from 31st March -1st April 2023, to enable participants to experience the training process up close and personal. The purpose of the training program is to promote an ethos amongst the participants about the necessity of drafting statutes in clear, simple, and easy-to-understand language. This program aims at capacity building of the participants in the effective drafting of laws and also exposes them to the essential skills that a good draftsman must hold.

- Consulting process in Indian Parliamentary Legislation

- International trends in Legislative Drafting
- Limitations and difficulties in Legislative Drafting
Structure of the Course
The proposed three days Training Programs in Legislative Drafting will have one 90-minute in the morning session and one evening session by an expert in the field of legislative drafting preferably who is or has been a member of Indian Legal Services. Participants will be provided accommodation and food during the duration of the Training Program.
Registration
The total intake of participants is capped at 50 and registration shall be done on first cum first serve basis. Participants will be provided with certificates after successful completion of the Training Program.
