Eligibility
Candidates must hold a full-time regular Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB, 3-year or 5-year integrated course) from an institute or university recognised by the Bar Council of India, and a Sanad, registration or enrolment document issued by the relevant State Bar Council is essential. Candidates must also have a minimum of 4 years of post-qualification relevant experience in a non-banking Public Sector Undertaking and/or any government department or organisation and/or any reputed private organisation and/or as a practising Advocate in a law firm, Advocate’s office or Senior Counsel’s chamber. Relevant experience means experience of handling civil and contract laws (other than tax laws), labour matters, arbitration and court pleadings; drafting and vetting of contracts and MoUs and commercial and legal documents such as NDAs, bonds, undertakings and affidavits; and good drafting and communication skills in English, with proficiency in computers. An LLM degree or a diploma in labour laws, IPR, arbitration, mediation or any other similar field is desirable, as is experience in the shipbuilding or defence industry. Candidates employed in government or a PSU must have 2 years of service in the immediate lower pay scale (E-1, Rs. 40,000–1,40,000). The upper age limit and experience are counted as on 30 September 2026. Selection is by interview only.

After submitting, candidates must take two printouts of the system-generated application form and send one, with all relevant documents, to the General Manager (HR&A), HR&A Department, Goa Shipyard Limited, Vasco-da-Gama, Goa – 403802, so that it reaches GSL on or before 2 December 2026.
Role and Importance
The Deputy Manager (Legal) handles the shipyard’s civil and contract law work, labour matters, arbitration and court pleadings, and drafts and vets contracts, MoUs and commercial and legal documents for a defence public sector shipbuilder serving the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard.
