  • Mechanical Engineering

Applicants need a full-time regular BE, BTech or equivalent degree in the prescribed discipline from an AICTE/UGC-recognised institution. The maximum age for General/EWS applicants is 26 years as on 1 July 2026.

The notification specifies a detailed list of eligible degree titles for every discipline. Officer (Marketing)

Applicants for Officer (Marketing) in Grade A must have a two-year full-time regular MBA or a PGDBA recognised as equivalent to an MBA by the Association of Indian Universities, with a specialisation in Marketing Management. The required marks are 60% for General/EWS/OBC (NCL) candidates and 55% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates. The maximum age is 28 years for General/EWS applicants.

IndianOil has clarified that the Marketing specialisation must appear on the final degree certificate or be supported by certification from the relevant authority. The majority of elective subjects should also correspond to the Marketing specialisation.

Law Officer

Law Officer applicants must have either:

  • A graduate degree in any discipline plus a three-year LLB; or
  • A five-year integrated LLB degree.

The LLB qualification must be recognised by the Bar Council of India. Candidates in the General/EWS/OBC (NCL) category require at least 60% marks in the prescribed qualification(s); SC/ST/PwBD applicants require 55%. The upper age limit for General/EWS candidates is 30 years.

Applicants must also possess at least two years of cumulative post-qualification professional experience as on 30 June 2026. Eligible experience includes advocacy before courts or tribunals, work with law firms, legal functions in private or public-sector organisations, and legal roles in Central or State Government bodies. Candidates applying for Electrical or Mechanical posts need a three-year full-time regular engineering diploma in the notified discipline, with at least 65% marks for General/EWS/OBC (NCL) candidates and 55% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates.

For the Safety discipline, applicants need a three-year engineering diploma in one of the listed disciplines as well as a Diploma in Industrial Safety of at least one year from a duly recognised university, institute, department or board. PwBD candidates receive relaxation under applicable Government of India rules.

Reservations for SC, ST, OBC (NCL), EWS and PwBD candidates will be implemented according to Government of India directives. Candidates seeking these benefits must possess valid certificates in the prescribed Central Government/CPSE format. OBC (NCL) certificates must have been issued on or after 1 April 2026; EWS certificates must also have been issued on or after that date and be valid for financial year 2026–27.

Selection process

The selection process has three stages:

  1. Computer Based Test
  2. Group Discussion and Group Task
  3. Personal Interview

The CBT will contain 100 objective multiple-choice questions. It has two sections: General Aptitude, carrying 50 questions, and Domain Knowledge, carrying 50 questions. The General Aptitude portion includes Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning and English Verbal Ability. Candidates receive 60 minutes for General Aptitude and 90 minutes for Domain Knowledge. Each correct answer earns one mark, and 0.25 mark is deducted for every incorrect answer.

For the CBT, General/EWS/OBC (NCL) candidates must score at least 40% in each section and 45% overall. SC/ST candidates require 35% in each section and 40% overall, while PwBD candidates need 25% in each section and 30% overall. Clearing these minimum thresholds does not automatically guarantee shortlisting for the next stage, as shortlisting will depend on merit and the number of available positions.

The final merit list will be prepared using the following weightage:

Selection componentWeightage
Computer Based Test85%
Group Discussion and Group Task5%
