The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Angul invites applications for the positions of Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel, Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel, and Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel on a contractual basis.

Position Details

• Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel: 01 Post
• Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel: 02 Posts
• Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel: 02 Posts

Eligibility Criteria

1. Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel

• Minimum 10 years of practice in criminal law.
• Proven ability to lead a legal team and manage office operations.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Comprehensive understanding of criminal law and ethical responsibilities of defense counsel.
• Must have independently handled at least 30 criminal trials in Sessions Courts (relaxable in suitable cases).
• Preferable: Working knowledge of computers.

2. Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel

• Minimum 7 years of experience in criminal law practice.
• In-depth understanding of criminal law and legal research.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to work efficiently within a team.
• Should have handled at least 20 criminal trials in Sessions Courts (relaxable in exceptional cases by Hon’ble Executive Chairman, SLSA).
• Proficiency in IT applications.

3. Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel

• 0 to 3 years of experience in criminal law practice.
• Good communication and research skills.
• Strong understanding of defense counsel ethics.
• Ability to collaborate within a team setting.
• High proficiency in IT and legal documentation tools.
